You can get in touch by calling or simply texting or emailing the words “Welfare Box”. It was set up in 2019 and formerly know as “Islay & Jura Store Cupboard”. During the COVID pandemic we partnered with the Dunlossit and Islay Community Trust to deliver welfare boxes and rebranded as Islay Food Bank in 2021 as part of this ongoing partnership. We work with the Argyll and Bute Community Food Forum and network with other similar community projects. Exact Items vary, but all boxes contain basic, store cupboard items. The box is designed to provide emergency meals for a few days. When you ask for a box we will ask if you require any additional items such as: Toiletries Cleaning or Laundry Products Nappies or Baby Food Pet Food We are also able to provide a small amount of fresh food such as bread, milk, fruit or vegetables if you require it.
